Don Trump has created a dark and dystopian climate of fear in which citizens of what is supposed to be the freest country in the world are terrified of being criminalized and destroyed for their views.
This is a remarkable development on many fronts, including the fact that it was the left who originally created the cancel culture climate of fear in America. Donald Trump promised he would end this culture and bring free speech back. He didn’t. He actually created his own version of cancel culture that has resulted in the silencing and punishment of all dissent— except for those who speak in glowing and glorious terms of the president, of course.
Now, anyone who speaks negatively about the Don is told they are INSANE. Or they are ON DRUGS. Or they have a WARPED MIND. I was accused of all three of those things in the last two days on this page simply because I had the audacity to criticize the Don. Critics of the Don are also accused of being hateful and judgmental and told they are fake Christians.
And yes, accusing people of being insane, hateful, psychotic, traitorous, etc., etc. etc. simply because they criticize the president is in fact punishment, and in fact does lead to silencing. It is every bit as bad as what the left did and worse.
The punishment and silencing are far reaching and thorough. Even grown men, fighting age men, wise and seasoned men, who previously walked boldly and stated their views openly without fear, have either stopped speaking in direct terms and now frame their words in “joke form” or meme (so as not to offend anyone), or have gone completely silent.
One of the most disturbing outcomes of this massive silencing is watching people get absolutely torched on social media for their negative views about Trump while their friends and family members who support Trump sit by and say absolutely nothing in their defense, or actually even join the attacks on them. I have never seen such betrayal in my life. And I’m talking about betrayal of Liberty.
I am old enough to remember a time when Americans said “I may not agree with what you say, but I will always fight for your right to say it.” Not anymore. That is no longer the rule, it is an increasingly tiny exception. Most people now enjoy watching their neighbors be COERCED into silence through social media TRIANGULATION by guilters, shamers, slanderers, mockers, and others who have decided they will wage war on those who oppose their views instead of on the destroyers of Liberty.
IT’S TRAGIC. IT’S TREACHEROUS. AND IT’S NOT SUSTAINABLE.
History says there will be reform, complete tyranny, or revolt. At this hour reform seems out of the question. Revolt is a very remote possibility given the widespread fear. Tyranny seems to be the fate of a great nation in which all citizens once felt totally free to say whatever they felt like saying without fear of wrath and punishment.
I miss the old days when you could say whatever you wanted, without fear of being punished by your government, your government’s supporters, even your own friends and family. I miss those days so much.
As for me, I will not be going into this night of punishment and silence easy. I will rage against it. The more I am told how to talk, what words to use, who to follow, who to support, and threatened if I don’t comply, the more I will rage against it. Because I don’t answer to men. I answer to God. And God saved me and said “don’t ever again submit to the yoke of slavery.” And I am a servant of God, not men. @highlight
